I grew up in a close-knit family. I lived in the same home as my mom, dad, and younger sister until I married my husband eleven years ago. Every Mother’s Day, I shop for a special gift to give my mom. Because she’s been battling a difficult illness recently, I want to surprise her with something special this year. A few of her favorite things are purses, blouses, scarves, and necklaces. Therefore, I’m shopping at local, department stores with these items in mind. When people come to a wedding, it is customary for the bride and groom to give gifts to the guests as they leave. If you are having a large wedding, the cost to get gifts for every guest can be quite expensive. Candy is always a great, inexpensive gift to give to guests when they leave your wedding. Purchase large glass jars and create a candy bar near the exit of the reception hall. Have scoopers in each jar and little to-go containers for guests to fill as they are leaving. This allows everyone a sweet treat to enjoy on their way home.

Picture Frames

Purchase inexpensive unfinished wood picture frames. Remove the glass from the insides of the frames and then spray paint them with paint that matches the color scheme of your wedding. You can then replace the glass and fill each frame with a picture of you or your spouse with the guest that the gift is for or simply with pictures of you and your spouse.  

Can Kozies

Have custom can kozies created for your guests to take with them when they leave. You can choose to have the kozies say whatever you want them to say. Many couples choose to have the kozies say their names, the date that they were married, and a cute phrase that describes them in some way.

Succulents

Small potted succulents are great options for wedding gifts as well. You can decorate each small pot that the succulents come in so that each person that receives one will have a customized gift. Succulents are very easy to care for so they make great gifts for those with or without a green thumb.  

Candles

Candles are also a great option to give to people at your wedding. Create your own candles by melting crayons on the stove. Place a wick in the center of a small glass container. Add a few drops of any essential oil you think smells the best to the wax mixture and then pour the wax into each container. Everyone will have a custom candle they can enjoy any time they choose.

All of these ideas are easy to do on your own and will serve as great gifts for your wedding. They are inexpensive options that allow your guests to know how important they are to you and how thankful you are that they came to celebrate your special day with you.
